- ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts to host guest artist Ellie JenkinsEllie Jenkins, DMA, Professor of Music at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia and Artist Affiliate in Horn at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, will present a recital on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall on the ULM campus. Jenkins will be assisted by ULM Professor of Piano Richard Seiler, DMA. Jenkins will also work with ULM music students in a masterclass earlier that day.
- ULM commemorates new public art sculptureThe University of Louisiana Monroe held a press conference on August 21, 2024, to commemorate the installation of a new public art sculpture on its campus. The sculpture, titled Here We Go, was created by Kansas City artist Beth Nybeck. The 12-foot-tall steel sculpture has been installed next to Sandel Hall on Northeast Drive.
- ULM's Pi Kappa Alpha chapter wins 29th Smythe AwardMembers of the University of Louisiana Monroe's Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity recently returned from their International Convention held in Oklahoma City, where they won their fifth consecutive Robert A. Smythe Award.
- ULM sets Fall 2024 Convocation for Aug. 28 at Malone StadiumThe University of Louisiana Monroe's annual freshman convocation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. at Malone Stadium. Convocation will kick off with the traditional parade across the bridge at 5:45 p.m.
- ULM Honors Program nationally recognized with two awardsThe University of Louisiana Monroe Honors Program received two awards at Pathways 2024, a national student success conference hosted by Suitable in Philadelphia, Pa. from July 24-26, 2024. Nominated for five awards, the two awards were for the FLIGHT Program, an experiential digital badging curriculum requiring students to master seven competencies essential to professional, personal, and social growth. Suitable is a software platform and app that assists universities in boosting student engagement outside the classroom.
- ULM signs agreement with Carroll Jr. High to create educational pathways for studentsThe University of Louisiana Monroe and Carroll Jr. High signed a memorandum of understanding at a ceremony at Carroll Jr. High on Monday, August 12. The education partnership agreement ensures that each institution serves the needs of students by providing them with opportunities to fully explore and realize their academic potential. The agreement addresses the areas of academic support, student support services, career exploration, leadership development, and community engagement. The agreement is effective immediately.
- ULM holds reception for launch of new ACES programThe University of Louisiana Monroe held a reception to honor the launch of the new ACES program on August 8, 2024. The Academics, Career, Engagement, and Support (ACES) Transition and Postsecondary Program is a comprehensive transition and postsecondary education experience for young adults with intellectual disabilities. ACES provides its students with an inclusive college experience, including courses designed to prepare participants for the workforce.
- The Pursuit comes to ULM, Friday, August 23The Pursuit, ULM's premier kickoff event for the upcoming 2024-2025 athletic season, is set for Friday, August 23 at Bayou Pointe Event Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $50, and reserved tables for eight are $600. ULM/VCOM employee tickets are $30. - ULM Cheerleading and Hawkline qualify for UCA/UDA NationalsULM Cheerleading, Hawkline, and Ace the Warhawk earned awards and qualified for national competitions while participating in the Universal Cheerleaders Association/Universal Dance Association (UCA/UDA) Camp from July 19-21, 2024. The camp, presented by Varsity, was held at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.
- ULM Reginald F. Lewis Scholar and facilitator embark on study abroad experience in ParisOn June 20, 2024, the ULM TRIO Reginald F. Lewis Scholar Program's Cohort 2 had the exciting opportunity to spend a week studying abroad in Paris, France. Facilitator Tommie Nelson, Retention Coordinator of ULM TRIO Programs, and ULM TRIO Reginald F. Lewis Scholar Braxton Jackson, along with fellow RFL scholars and facilitators from the University of Louisiana System, participated in this enriching experience.

- ULM GERO Institute wins Better Business Bureau Torch Award for EthicsThe ULM Gerontology Education, Research, and Outreach (GERO) Institute was recently the recipient of the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics. The GERO Institute focuses on enhancing the quality of life of older adults through proactive education, professional training, applied research, and community outreach. The BBB Torch Award for Ethics celebrates businesses and nonprofits that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to ethics and integrity.
- Family donates to ULM College of Pharmacy to create scholarship in honor of T.D. "Doc" MurphyThe Murphy Family donated $60,000 to the ULM College of Pharmacy to establish the T.D. "Doc" Murphy Superior Graduate Scholarship in Pharmacy in honor of Thomas Deckle Murphy, Class of 1962. The Louisiana Board of Regents Sponsored Programs Support Fund awarded $40,000 in matching funds, making the total value $100,000. A check presentation was held at the ULM College of Pharmacy on July 3, 2024.
- ULM closed Thursday and Friday for 4th of July holidayThe University of Louisiana Monroe will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and remain closed on Friday, July 5 for the 4th of July holiday. The university will resume normal operating hours on Monday, July 8.
- Miss ULM Gabrelle McLeod earns 4th Runner-Up honors at Miss LouisianaMiss University of Louisiana Monroe 2024 Gabrelle "Gabby" McLeod placed as 4th Runner-Up at the 2024 Miss Louisiana competition on June 15, 2024 at the Monroe Civic Center. In the preliminary rounds of the competition, McLeod won the Health and Fitness Newcomer and Health and Fitness Overall awards.
