Biographical Sketch

Kim Theodos is an Associate Professor of Health Studies.   With 20 years of experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching, she is dedicated to the success and promotion of Health Studies students.  She has experience teaching online as well as on campus students including professional practice experiences.  Kim has a Bachelors degree in Health Information Administration from Louisiana Tech, a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from University of New Orleans and a Juris Doctorate from Taft Law School.

Dr. Theodos thoroughly enjoys working with students both in class as well as through advising and mentoring.   Her expertise includes Healthcare Law, Healthcare Informatics, Administration, and Leadership.   She has a special interest in Strengths-Based Leadership utilizing individual strengths to highlight opportunities and potential in students and professionals.   She serves as a leadership consultant for healthcare organizations and enjoys sharing her knowledge to encourage others to become the best version of themselves.   Kim's other research interests include healthcare privacy and modernization of HIPAA and other related laws.

Kim's professional service includes substantial healthcare association leadership.  She has served in numerous capacities including President of the Louisiana Health Information Management Association (LHIMA).  Kim was elected and served a 3 year term on the Board of Directors for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and is now serving a second 3 year term on the Board of Directors for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). 

Dr. Theodos was recently recognized as Outstanding Faculty in Teaching for the ULM School of Allied Health.   She was also named Distinguished Member and Outstanding Volunteer by LHIMA.  

In her free time, Kim loves spending time with her family, traveling, live music and the beach.
