Biographical Sketch
At present, Dr. Tackett holds the esteemed position of an Assistant Professor of Psychology within the academic realm of the University of Louisiana Monroe. Preceding his tenure here, his professional trajectory encompassed roles as a dedicated graduate assistant within the psychology department, coupled with a concurrent appointment as an English educator at a local parish high school. His academic journey culminated in the successful attainment of an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana Monroe in December of 2021, following the prior achievement of both a B.A. and M.S. in Psychology from the same esteemed institution.
His roots can be traced back to West Carroll Parish, where he was nurtured and educated, thereby influencing the course of his intellectual development. Beyond the realm of academia, Dr. Tackett's leisure pursuits encompass the engagement with literary works spanning both fiction and nonfiction genres. Furthermore, the delight of exploration is heightened when undertaken in the company of my esteemed partner, Cassidy, and the endearing companionship of our two cherished animals, Buster (feline) and Charlie (pug), and our daughter, Katherine Jewel.
Research Interests
My primary areas of research include student motivation, with sub-areas such as Fear of Failure, Impostor Phenomenon, Procrastination, Self-Efficacy, and Locus of Control. I am interested in studying how all of these areas impact and interact with student motivation. I believe that each of these constructs have a huge impact on student motivation and if we can figure out how to mitigate them, then we can successfully educate students.
