Biographical Sketch

Dr. Seth Tackett is an accomplished academic and educator with a strong background in psychology, holding a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). His research interests focus on academic/student motivation, procrastination, self-efficacy, and locus of control. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at ULM, where he has been teaching since 2020. His courses have covered a wide range of topics, including Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Child Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Health Psychology.

Dr. Tackett has a robust record of research and publication, contributing book chapters and peer-reviewed articles to the field of psychology. His work often explores themes of academic motivation and self-efficacy, with recent studies examining topics such as impostor phenomenon and personality traits associated with thrill-seeking behaviors.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Tackett is actively involved in service to his university and the broader academic community. He has served on various committees, including the Academic Affairs Promotion Hierarchy for Instructors Committee and the University-Wide Research Symposium Committee. Dr. Tackett also contributes as an editor and reviewer for the journal Multidisciplinary Psychology: A Journal of Collaboration.

His commitment to student success is evident through his roles as a faculty advisor for PSYCiety and as a mentor in ULM's Mentorship Program. Dr. Tackett has also been recognized for his excellence in teaching, receiving the ULM Professor of the Semester award in 2023 from Psi Chi and PSYCiety.

Outside the university, Dr. Tackett volunteers as a Community Volunteer Facilitator for the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home Pet Therapy program and participates in various community service activities, including judging for the Future Farmers of America Employment Skills Section.

Research Interests

Dr. Seth Tackett’s research primarily focuses on the psychological factors influencing academic performance and student behavior. His areas of interest include academic motivation, procrastination, self-efficacy, and locus of control, exploring how these factors impact college students' academic success and overall well-being.
