Biographical Sketch

Dr. Kathy Kennedy is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Sciences, Kitty DeGree School of Nursing, as a tenured faculty in Maternal Child Health Nursing and Nursing Synthesis Courses. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Northeast Louisiana University in 1994 and has enjoyed a career in maternal-child nursing. In 2009, she received her Masters of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Certified Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. In 2016, she received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. 

Dr. Kennedy is President-elect of Sigma Theta Tau International Lambda Mu Chapter, member of AWHONN, Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, and American College of Nurse Midwives. She is a faculty counselor for the Student Nurses Association and enjoys medical and community service opportunities with students.

Dr. Kennedy is an active member of the ULM Interprofessional Education (IPE) Task Force. She is passionate about incorporating IPE into the curriculum of the Health Sciences Programs and fostering involvement from the medical and community leaders of Region 8.
