Biographical Sketch

     Dr. Ava Pugh, Professor, has been teaching since 1974 and in 1980 she received her Doctorate in Education from Mississippi State University. In 1979 Ava was the Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher for the State of Mississippi. Dr. Pugh coordinates Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana, where she has been teaching since 1984. She has published over 180 articles in international, national, regional, and state journals and delivered 201 workshops and papers to international, national, regional, and state organizations and conventions. Ava has collaborated, written, and served as PI or Co-PI for 24 funded grants and served as the SEDL (Southwest Educational Development Laboratory) science liaison for the University. Ava has been the recipient of the Endowed Professorship for Bell South in Science Education and numerous other awards for teaching and service.
