Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation for Dental Hygienists

This course is designed to instruct students in the art and science of minimal inhalation sedation using Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen.

The course encompasses evaluation of the child and adult patient prior to administration, management of the patient during administration, and the management of medical emergencies.

The course consists of 15 didactic hours (5 weeks) online study and 8 hours of clinical practice. The student will come to ULM on Friday November 3rd from 1:00-5:00 pm and again on Saturday November 4th from 9:00 am – 1:00pm to complete the clinical component.

Handbook of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation 4th ed.  Authors: Clark, Morris S. and Ann L. Brunick (ISBN # 978-1-4557-4547-0) Print edition or E-book acceptable.

Class dates: October 2 through November 4th, 2017 – didactic portion

                    November 3rd  and 4th, 2017 – clinical portion
